Eliza Denning makes history at Junior Pan American Games

17-year old Eliza Denning is the first Bahamian to win a gold medal in any sporting discipline at the Junior Pan American Games. It is also the first gold medal in the sport of sailing for The Bahamas in the modern era.

Eliza showed true grit and determination as she entered the last day of competition in 12th place overall; however she went on to win 2 of 3 races on the final day resulting in her podium finish. Her first place finish also secures a place at the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.

Eliza attends Lyford Cay International School and trains with Niels Broekhuizen, himself a multi-time national ILCA champion.

Congratulations Eliza!
