Joshua Higgins (ILCA 7)
Joshua Higgins is hoping to qualify The Bahamas for the 2028 Olympic Games.
Joshua recently qualified The Bahamas for the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games in the ILCA 7 event, finishing 2nd overall at the Pre-CAC Regatta qualifier held in Santa Domingo in August 2025.
Joshua’s accomplishments include being the first Bahamian sailor to qualify for the ILCA 7 event at the Pan American Games and the first to compete in the ISAF World Championship, the ILCA 7 World Championship, and the Senior European Championship.
As Joshua sails toward his Olympic dream, he remains deeply grateful for the unwavering support of The Harbour Island Sailing Club, his family, and the Harbour Island community.
Joshua is currently training and competing in Europe, although he regularly returns home.
Norman Cartwright (ILCA 7 & ILCA 6 )
Norman Cartwright represented The Bahamas at the 2024 Youth World Championships in the ILCA 6 male event and has been selected once again in 2025, as the top Bahamian male finisher in the 2025 ILCA 6 Youth Worlds. Norman attends Roger Williams University (‘28), competing in the 2025 and 2024 NEISA Open Single-Handed Championships.
Norman also represented The Bahamas at various Optimist World and Optimist Continental Championships.
Norman learnt to sail at the Bahamas National Sailing School in Nassau.
Eliza Denning (ILCA 6)
Eliza Denning won the Gold Medal at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games - the first gold medal for The Bahamas at this event in any discipline. By doing so, Eliza has individually qualified to represent The Bahamas at the 2027 Pan American Games.
Eliza will represent The Bahamas at the 2025 Youth World Championships in the ILCA 6 female event, for the 2nd consecutive year.
Eliza is a member of Lyford Cay Sailing and currently attends Lyford Cay International School (Class of 2026).
